YaMZ-240 is a four-stroke long-stroke V-shaped diesel engine for dump trucks, heavy automotive and construction equipment, diesel trains. At the end of 1962 Yaroslavl Engine Plant mastered production of four-stroke V-shaped twelve-cylinder diesel engine, unified with V-shaped six-cylinder YAMZ-236 and V-shaped eight-cylinder YAMZ-238. High-pressure fuel pumps are manufactured at the Yaroslavl Fuel Equipment Plant. The engine is diesel, four-stroke, V-shaped twelve-cylinder, mainly installed in BelAZ-540 (Belorussian Automobile Plant), ShSG-401 snowmobile, modifications of K-700 tractor, railway equipment (MDP4 diesel train, dressing and finishing machines).
YAMZ 240 series includes 4 models:
