Oshkosh M911 8×6 is a quarry dump truck with payload capacity of 40 tons. It is designed for transportation of minerals in quarry conditions, transportation of bulk cargoes, as well as various bulk construction, industrial cargoes in places with undeveloped road network. The dump truck is four-axle (the second axle is lifted), has permanent four-wheel drive (except for the second axle). Fulfills the requirements of DAAE07-76-C4405.
Frame. The chassis is based on a high-slung C-shaped automobile frame, ladder type, made of high-strength and flexible alloy. The frame consists of spars, cross members and nested stiffeners. The thickness of the spar wall (spar in spar) is 12+9 mm. Spar shelf width – 92 mm, spar height – 325 mm. The distance between the frame members is 920 mm. A front steel bumper made of 3 mm steel is integrated into the frame. At both ends of the frame there are power cross beams with installed towing devices and switching equipment for trailer connection.
Engine. Detroit Diesel 8V92TA, V-shaped, two-stroke, 8-cylinder, liquid-cooled, double gas turbine supercharger with a Roots high-pressure drive supercharger. For cooling of charge air the intercooler of compressed air is used on the scheme “air-to-air”. Engine displacement is 12 liters, power is 550 hp. Maximum torque is 2600 Nm. Direct injection of diesel fuel with the help of pump-jets. The engine supply system is equipped with heating and fuel filter with water separator. The air intake system is equipped with a three-stage air filtration system with 99.8 % purification degree. The engine is equipped with a diethyl ether injection system for winter starting. Fuel tank capacity is 570 liters.
Transmission. The dump truck has permanent all-wheel drive on all axles, except for the second lifting axle (wheel arrangement 8×6). There is a forced locking of inter-axle and inter-wheel differentials. Automatic gearbox Allison CLBT 750 with torque converter, planetary type, number of forward/reverse gears: 5/1. Planetary gear ratio range from 1.00 to 7.97. The single-stage torque converter with three impellers automatically varies the torque steplessly between 1/1 and 3/1. The integrated 420 kW hydrodynamic brake retarder is controlled by an additional floor pedal. The automatic transmission is equipped with a forced water-oil heat exchanger. Behind the automatic transmission is an optional Fuller AT1202 two-speed transmission with ratios of 1.99 and 1.0. Oshkosh 63724RX-U transfer case is single-stage. PTO is installed.
The driver’s cabin is a three-seat all-metal, bonnet-type cab, located behind the engine. It is equipped with air conditioning and autonomous heating system with air heater and Webasto liquid engine preheater. The cab suspension is four-point, designed for constant off-road use, with a shock absorber-in-spring suspension system and transverse stability stabilizer.
